Wright County’s Parks & Recreation Department will be holding a unique event to usher in the new year tonight (Wednesday).
The “Ney New Year” will be held from 7 to 10 PM at the Ney Park Nature Center near Maple Lake.
The event is free and open to all ages, and will include a guided night hike from 7 to 8 PM with an expert leading the way – pointing out nocturnal wildlife, winter ecosystems and the peaceful beauty of the wilderness at night.
For those who don’t have cross-country skis or snowshoes, they can be rented for free on site.
Following the hike, a fireside gathering with hot cocoa and cider is planned, with a sparkler sendoff to 2025 at the end of the event.
