Wright County Sheriff Sean Deringer has officially announced that he will not seek another term as sheriff.
In a statement, Deringer said serving as sheriff has been one of the greatest honors of his life, and that he has had a long and fulfilling career in law enforcement. Deringer pointed to his faith as a constant source of direction and humility for his personal life and his approach to service and leadership.
The sheriff also said he is deeply proud of the department’s deputies, corrections officers, dispatchers and civilian staff, and highlighted their professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
Sheriff Deringer also acknowledged the support, patience and encouragement of his family during his years in law enforcement, and particularly during his years as sheriff.
Deringer said in his official statement that he has encouraged his Chief Deputy, Matt Treichler to seek the office in November.
The sheriff pointed out that while he is not seeking another term, he fully intends to serve out his full term which runs through the end of 2026.
