Wright-Hennepin Members Donate $75K to Local Organizations Through Operation Round Up

Members of Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association who participate in Operation Round Up, or ORU, donated grants totaling some 75-thousand dollars in April to worthy organizations.

ORU participants allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar. That rounded amount is then compiled and used for donations supporting local programs.

At their April meeting, the ORU trust board made donations that included 10-thousand dollars to the Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County, 8 thousand dollars to the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation, 75-hundred dollars each to the Angel Foundation for emergency financial assistance for cancer patients, Can Do Canines to support assistance dogs, and to Helping Paws to match trained service dogs with people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Numerous other donations from 15-hundred to 65-hundred dollars were also awarded to other organizations throughout Wright-Hennepin’s service area.

Wright-Hennepin estimates that more than 5.4 million dollars has been awarded through Operation Round Up since it began in 1984.
