Xcel Energy Invites Volunteers to its 15th Annual Day of Service

Xcel Energy is inviting the public to join employees and their friends and families on Thursday, September 11th through Saturday, September 13th for its 15th annual Day of Service. The company says the event is an opportunity to give back to their communities.

Volunteers can sign up now for one of 46 non-profit projects across the state. While many of the projects are in the Twin Cities area, others near Mankato, Red Wing, St. Cloud and Monticello are planned.

Both indoor and outdoor projects are available, from planting trees to packing meals for those with food insecurities. Other activities include landscaping, and packing school supplies for students in need.

Xcel says its Day of Service is the company’s largest annual volunteer effort. Last year, nearly 2 thousand employees, contractors, friends, family, retirees and customers contributed some 79-hundred hours of volunteer work across the company’s eight state service area.

The Day of Service movement was created as a tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of 9/11, as well as all those who work to keep communities and the country safe.
