Officials with Xcel Energy say the Monticello Nuclear Power Plant went into automatic shutdown mode in recent days after a problem with a control valve.
The company says that the issue led the system to “…automatically take the reactor offline, safely shutting it down as it is designed to do.”
The event notification from the U-S Nuclear Regulatory Commission stated that there was no impact on the health and safety of the public, or the plant personnel.
Officials say repair teams were working to bring the plant back to full operations, and that they did not expect any impact to electric service customers.
