25th Anniversary of September 11th Terror Attacks on America

Seeing U-S flags flying at half-staff today takes on deep meaning. Today, September 11th, 2026 is a significant milestone anniversary of one of the darkest days in our country’s history.

25 years ago today, in one of the most brazen, and horrifyingly calculated acts of terrorism in modern history, terrorists commandeered four passenger jets and flew them into civilian targets in the United States

Two of the planes struck the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D-C.

There has been much speculation about where a 4th plane involved in the plot may have been headed, but most people seem to agree that it was likely on its way to one of a number of other important governmental buildings in Washington, possibly to the U-S Capitol building, or perhaps even the White House. The 4th plane never reached its target however, after passengers staged a defensive attack of their own against the hijackers, and the plane went down in a farm field in Pennsylvania.

For those who witnessed the events either in-person, or through the media, no one will ever forget the sights and sounds of September 11th, 2001. Today we go back for a moment to hear some of the accounts of citizens, law enforcement officials, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and former U-S President George W. Bush.

Today is a particularly somber Patriot Day, a national day of remembrance and reflection on what many people remember as; the day that changed everything.

Throughout Wright County, residents are marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 either at official ceremonies or special church services, or will simply observe the day in their own memories, thoughts and prayers.
