The Department of Natural Resources has put spring burning restrictions into effect for much of central Minnesota, including Wright County.
Wildfire Prevention Specialist Karen Harrison says 15 counties in total are impacted. She says there are certain situations where very small, well-monitored outdoor fires are allowed…
“So if you’re having a backyard campfire or you’re out camping, having a campfire, that is not restricted, those larger burn piles, maybe people are cleaning up their yard leaves, branches, brush that sort of thing. Those will be restricted.”
Spring is the most active time for Minnesota wildfires due to the sunny, warm and windy conditions further drying out grasses and other vegetation creating the perfect mix for a wildfire.
More information on restrictions can be found by visiting the DNR’s website at; www.mndnr.gov.
