State officials say Minnesota’s job market remained stable in February…
“Jobs were essentially flat over the month in Minnesota as we lost 700, but in the context of our 3 million jobs overall in the state, this is essentially holding steady.”
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Matt Varilek says the state’s unemployment rate held steady at an even 3 percent for the fifth month in a row. Officials say that compares favorably with the national jobless rate of 4.1%.
Minnesota’s labor force participation rate also remained at 68.1% in February, compared to 62.4% nationally.
Commissioner Varilek says while employers shed some 700 jobs overall, more than 5 times that number of workers were added overall…
“We added more than 3,800 workers to the labor force, which is a good gain and good news for employers who are looking for workers. Our unemployment rate of 3.0 continues to compare well to the national rate.”
The county-by-county numbers for February should be released in the next week to 10 days.
