The worst appears to be over for areas in and around Mayer that have been dealing with some minor flooding in recent days due to the heavy rains earlier in the month.
The National Weather Service Prediction Service forecast for the South Fork Crow River near Mayer shows the level dropping under the minor flood stage of 11 feet today (Tuesday), and officials expect it to continue to fall throughout the rest of the week. Some minor flooding recently has caused some road closures in Mayer as well as in neighboring Watertown. Those impacts should be improving as the waters recede this week.
You may remember it was about this time last year that parts of Mayer, Watertown, Delano and Rockford were closely monitoring river levels on the South Fork Crow River, and the Crow River after similar heavy rains in late May and early to mid June.
The level on the South Fork of the Crow crested over the weekend in Delano at around 15.5 feet, a full foot under the minor flood stage. The Crow River in Rockford is expected to crest today (Tuesday) at 9.55 feet, just under the minor flood stage of 10 feet.
Though rain is in the forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, unless rains are heavy, no major changes in the river level forecast are expected.
