A major bridge re-construction project in Wright County is nearing completion in Middleville Township.

Crews are in the final phases in the re-construction of the County Road 5 bridge over the North Fork Crow River near Albright Mills County Park.
Ben Johnson with Erickson Engineering, the contractor for the project, says the final steps are coming together…
“The next step is going to be paving, which hopefully they’ll do yet this week. Then once the paving is done, we’ll need guard rail for the bridge for safety, then striping, and seeding of the slopes.”
Johnson says the rainy weather has dealt crews some slowdowns during the month of June…
“We definitely have had our trials with the rain, the river has gone up over 4 feet. You can see on site that the ditches are lined currently with water, so it’s been something we’ve been battling through. But, we’ve still been able to keep our schedule and keep things moving forward.”

The County Road 5 bridge project began in late February, with an expected completion date of July 20th. Officials say unless something very unforeseen comes up with the weather, they should be able to finish on or before that date.
As one bridge project wraps up, another is expected to begin. Work was expected to begin Monday on the complete replacement of the Wright County Highway 8 bridge over the Crow River in Marysville Township. Once that work begins, the bridge over the Crow River will be closed, and a detour will be posted using Wright County Highways 35, 7, 9 and 107. The County Road 8 bridge re-construction is expected to be completed by late fall 2025.
