The American Red Cross has declared an emergency blood shortage after donations dropped sharply in recent weeks.
Red Cross Regional Communications Manager Samantha Solberg says the decline is putting pressure on hospitals in some regions…
“The blood supply fell nearly 25 percent in June. The steep decline of blood donations started at the end of May, and it’s created a growing gap between the supply and the patient need that we’re seeing.”
Solberg says the Red Cross is urging eligible donors to make an appointment as soon as possible to help replenish the nation’s blood supply.
