The field of a dozen Republican candidates for governor in Minnesota will be narrowed down at Tuesday’s precinct caucuses.
Carleton College political analyst Steven Schier says the results of the straw polling are likely to show…
“Which candidates are serious contenders and which ones aren’t. They’ll be quite a distribution of support across all those candidates. And they’ll be maybe two, three of four of them who are serious contenders for the endorsement and for the nomination. And the fight will be between them.”
Schier says a bad showing in the straw poll will likely mean the end of the line for those candidates, particularly in a crowded field like the GOP gubernatorial race.
Democrats meanwhile are expected to unite behind Senator Amy Klobuchar who officially entered the race for governor in Minnesota late last week.
