Operation Metro Surge to Draw to an End in Minnesota

Operation Metro Surge is ending in Minnesota.

White House Border Czar Tom Homan said Thursday they’ve seen a notable decrease in unlawful agitator activity in Minneapolis and throughout the state…

“With that and the success that has been made arresting public safety threats and other priorities since this surge operation began, as well as the unprecedented levels of coordination we have attained from state officials and local law enforcement, I have proposed and President Trump has concurred that this surge operation conclude.”

Homan says while most enforcement teams will be leaving, some presence will remain…

“But there will be some security teams staying here until we’re assured those agitator incidents either stay low or further declines. I’m not going to remove everybody for the safety of our officers, but Operation Metro Surge is ending.”

Homan says he plans to stay to oversee the drawdown. He says Operation Metro Surge has been a great success and they’re leaving Minnesota safer.

Demonstrations here in Wright County to the presence of ICE have been sporadic and peaceful. Some vigils have also been held in parts of the county remembering Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
