A new central Minnesota attraction is preparing to open its doors next month.
The Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum will hold its grand opening September 11th through 13th, with a ribbon-cutting, live music, veteran-led presentations, and recognition ceremonies.
Executive Director Randall Dietrich says organizers wanted the opening to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks…
“That made a lot of sense to take advantage kind of that anniversary, to pause, to reflect back on those last 25 years, and then use that as the occasion also to reflect back on all the other conflicts that we’ve been involved in and the veterans who have served.”
Dietrich says Minnesota is home to about 40,000 post-9/11 veterans, while millions of Americans have no personal memory of the attacks.
The new Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum is located near Camp Ripley and the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls.
