The Wright County Highway Department plans to begin scheduling roadside vegetation work along Wright County Highways this Friday, May 1st.
Unwanted brush and noxious weeds will be cut and/or sprayed with herbicide. The goal is to eliminate the unwanted vegetation and promote grass cover. Officials say brush along the road reduces driving visibility, obstructs road signs and reduces driver reaction time to crossing wildlife.
Any Wright County residents who wish to maintain the road right-of-way adjacent to their property should stop in at the Wright County Highway Department offices to get a form to be completed and to be given “Do Not Spray” signs to post on areas that they wish to maintain. Forms must be submitted no later than April 30th to the Wright County Highway Department. You may also submit a form online at the Highway Department’s website.
Those who are approved should post the “Do Not Spray” signage that they will be given in their adjacent road ditches. The property owner will the be required to continue to keep weeds and brush under control throughout the summer season. Anyone with questions should call the Wright County Highway Department at (763) 682-7374.
