An arrest has been made in a suspected car-pedestrian hit and run crash in recent days in the City of Monticello.
Just before 7:30 AM on Friday, July 10th, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of the incident at the intersection of CSAH 18 and Oak Ridge Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male who had been struck by a vehicle while walking his dog.
Officials say evidence gathered at the scene indicated that the man and his dog were crossing Jason Avenue when they were struck by an unidentified vehicle. The man was transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The victim’s dog died in the incident.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office said at the time that the suspect vehicle was believed to be a 2014 to 2016 Subaru Forester that might be missing a passenger side mirror.
Monday, July 13th, Wright County Sheriff’s Office investigators identified the suspect vehicle and the suspected driver of a 2014 blue Subaru Forester. 62-year-old Denise Lagou of St. Cloud was arrested and booked into the Wright County Jail for probable cause leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

The case has been turned over to the Wright County Attorney’s Office which will consider additional charges, while the Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the incident.
