Preliminary work is underway in the City of Buffalo in what will be a major overhaul of the downtown roads and infrastructure.
The city’s Northeast Area Reconstruction project will include re-building of several city streets, along with underground infrastructure replacement. New city water main and sanitary sewer, storm sewer and installation of Buffalo Fiber, the city’s municipal fiber-optic internet service are the highlights of the infrastructure portion of the project. In addition to new road surfaces, above ground work will also include new sidewalks and parking configurations.

Construction is underway on 1st Street Northeast, or Wide Street to prepare it for two-way traffic. Full construction, including road closures, are anticipated to begin on Monday, April 20th, weather permitting.
Residents and interested persons may follow the progress of the work through maps via the city’s website.
