Another candidate recently announced his intentions to seek the office of sheriff in Wright County.

Longtime Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Mossman becomes the second person to enter the race following Sheriff Sean Deringer’s decision that he would not be seeking another term.

Mossman is a resident of Monticello Township, and is a veteran of more than 22 years experience with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. His campaign background information outlines his service as a patrol deputy, major crimes investigator, K-9 handler, recreational resource office, and Justice Center security.

Mossman says his top priority as sheriff would be to keep Wright County safe while supporting the deputies and using taxpayer dollars responsibly. He describes a balanced approach of enforcement, prevention and community engagement, and says he would prioritize violent crime, property crime and substance abuse.

Deputy Mossman joins Chief Deputy Matt Treichler as candidates who have announced their plans to enter the race. The filing window for sheriff and other county elected offices opens May 19th, running through June 2nd. If more than two candidates file for sheriff, a primary would need to be held in August to narrow the field to just two candidates for the November 3rd general elections.
