We have more information today regarding a freeway crash early Sunday morning in Stearns County that left two people dead and two others injured.

The State Patrol says the three-vehicle crash happened around 1:40 AM on I-94 near the Fuller Rest Area in Lynden Township.

Officials say a Nissan Rogue SUV was eastbound in the westbound traffic lane when it collided with a westbound motorcycle and a Honda SUV.

The driver of the Nissan SUV that was driving the wrong way on the freeway has been identified as 57-year-old Eugene Seguin of Calgary, Alberta – Canada. Seguin was pronounced dead at the St. Cloud Hospital. Authorities say he was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in his error in driving direction in the incident.

The driver of the Yamaha motorcycle, 24-year-old Ayden McDonald of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was also killed in the crash.

Two people from Watkins, Minnesota were injured in the crash. The driver of the Honda SUV that was involved in the crash, 65-year-old Frederick Rose, and a passenger, 66-year-old Barbara Weston, both sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the St. Cloud Hospital.

The Stearns County and Wright County Sheriff’s Departments, the Waite Park Police, Mayo Ambulance and LifeLink Helicopter assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
