A former Wright County Commissioner has joined the race for the open District 1 seat on the Wright County Board.
Buffalo resident Christine Husom, who served a decade on the county board before stepping away in the last election cycle says she is again a candidate for her former seat in District 1.
You’ll remember that a number of weeks ago, current District 1 Commissioner Tina Diedrick announced that she would not be seeking another term.
Husom said in a news release that when that announcement was made, many constituents reached out encouraging her to consider making another run.
She said “…after deliberation, discussions, and many prayers…” she made the decision to file.
Husom says balancing the retention of rural farmlands while managing growth in the fastest growing county in the state is one of the biggest challenges facing future county boards.
She added a promise of serving with honesty, integrity and responsibility if elected.
Husom joins former Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Strege as confirmed candidates in the race for Commissioner District 1.
