Four people were injured, two critically, in a three-vehicle traffic crash over the weekend in Freeborn County in southern Minnesota.
The State Patrol reports the crash happened shortly after 7 PM Saturday evening on northbound I-35 in Freeborn County’s Oakland Township.
Officials say a Ford Explorer SUV was southbound in the northbound traffic lanes when it collided with a Honda SUV. Following the initial collision, a full-size Chevy pickup then struck the Ford SUV.
The driver of the Honda SUV, 54-year-old Angela Johnson of Medina, sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, while a passenger in the Honda vehicle, 55-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, also of Medina, had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the Albert Lea Hospital.
The driver of the Ford Explorer, 25-year-old Anthony Graham of Austin, Minnesota was transported to the Mayo Clinic Albert Lea Hospital for treatment, while a passenger in his vehicle, 30-year-old Tabitha Caballero of Mankato, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
The driver of the Chevy pickup, an 85-year-old man from Brownsdale, had non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Albert Lea.
Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The Albert Lea Police and Fire Departments, and the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol.
