Governor Walz Announces Relief Package for Small Businesses

Governor Tim Walz has proposed a 10 million dollar relief package for small businesses impacted by federal immigration operations in Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Matt Varilek says businesses could be eligible for loans between 25 hundred to 25 thousand dollars…

“The loans would be zero percent over three years. After one year, there would be an opportunity to seek 50 percent forgiveness on the basis of proving you’ve had substantial impacts from the presence of federal agents.”

The relief proposal is expected to be a part of the governor’s 2026 legislative package to go before lawmakers.
