Heat Wave Common Sense: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

When the temperatures soar, so does your risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Dr. Luke Wood with the Mayo Clinic says symptoms of heat exhaustion include headache, dizziness, and profuse sweating. He says heat exhaustion can quickly advance to symptoms of confusion, altered mental status, clammy skin, and sometimes no sweating at all, which could indicate heat stroke which can be life-threatening.

Dr. Wood says young children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable.
