The Invisible Wounds Project will holding two of its biggest fundraisers Saturday with the Carshow and Concert for a Cause events.
Founder Russ Hanes says the nonprofit continues to see strong demand for mental health services from veterans and first responders across the region…
“We serve several 1000 individuals every year. And right now we are currently, on average, we are doing 8 suicide or crisis interventions a week. So it’s a drop-in center that we have enforcement with services available for all of those that serve or have served.”
Hanes says that in addition to providing services to members and former members of the military, the Invisible Wounds Project is also shining a light on the mental health challenges faced by first responders…
“…first responders, it’s just starting to be realized the amount of trauma and stress that they experience on a daily basis and what happens when that is not dealt with appropriately. We understand PTSD with vets, but the same thing exists in the first responder and those frontline medical staff roles.”
The fundraising event takes place at the Running Aces Casino in Columbus, Minnesota. Country singer Chris Janson is the featured performer for the concert portion of the fundraiser.
