Congress is back in session and pressed for time with the current U-S Farm Bill expiring in two weeks.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. She emphasizes the importance of getting work on a farm bill done, but says an extension appears to be imminent. “We’ve done that time and time again, so that shouldn’t create an alarm. But I would like to get this done by the end of the year. We don’t want to go into the tumult of the waters next year in the middle of a presidential race trying to get the farm bill done, and then of course we don’t want to go into the unknown in the future.”
Klobuchar says the Senate Ag Committee is close to an agreement on the farm bill.
