A Litchfield man was severely injured in a workplace accident in Meeker County this week.

“The Sheriff’s Department says at 10:33 AM Wednesday, they received a report of a work-related injury at an egg production facility in Harvey Township. They discovered 62-year-old Michael Redepenning of Litchfield had been accidentally caught in a machine, resulting in his lower leg being severed. Mayo Ambulance and rescue personnel stabilized Redepenning, then transported him to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. He was then air-lifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.”
The egg production facility where the incident occurred is reported to be north of Litchfield.
Officials say Litchfield Rescue and Mayo Ambulance also responded to the scene to assist the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
