A local man was involved in a car crash in West Central Minnesota that left a Milan woman dead on Monday evening.
Authorities say that 22-year-old Isaac Greenhagen of Maple Lake was southbound on Highway 59 in a Dodge truck; meanwhile, 47-year-old Makrina Seilap of Milan, MN, was northbound in a Chevy Traverse. The two vehicles collided at around 6:46 PM near County Road 32 in Kragero Township in Chippewa County.
Seilap was transported to North Memorial Hospital where she later died. Five children riding in the vehicle, aged seven through thirteen, received non-life-threatening injuries. While it is not known if the driver was wearing her seatbelt, at least three of the children were not wearing theirs. Some of the children were taken to the Appleton Hospital, while the others went to the Montevideo Hospital.
Greenhagen was not injured, and his passenger, 37-year-old Dairi Cortezdacosta received non-life threatening injuries. Both occupants of the Dodge truck were wearing their seatbelts, and were transported to the Montevideo Hospital.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and roads were reported as dry. The State Patrol was assisted by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Montevideo Police Department, Milan Fire Department, and Ambulance Services from Appleton and Montevideo.
