While there will be many road construction projects in and around Wright County this summer, one of the biggest will get underway between Buffalo and Monticello starting next week. MnDOT says Monday, April 13th is the target date for starting a complete overhaul of Highway 25 in our area.

Officials say the project area is from Catlin Street near the Buffalo Hospital in Buffalo to Kjellberg Court on the south side of Monticello.

Throughout the summer and into the early fall, crews will reconstruct the road surface, and replace or repair underground pipes, along with improving ditch drainage.

Roundabouts will be added at Highway 25 and Wright County Road 37, at Catlin Street in Buffalo, and Wright County will construct a roundabout at Highway 25 and County Road 113.

Other improvements will include turn lane additions at several intersections, and re-construction work at 3rd Avenue and Anderson Avenue. Several pedestrian access improvements including trails and other walking areas are also planned.

MnDOT says a process called “Stabilized Full Depth Replacement” will be used which will recycle the existing road surface. Officials say the 11.4 million dollar project will result in a smoother road surface, improved traveler safety, improved traffic flow, and improved drainage.

Various posted detours will be used throughout the construction season, though MnDOT says that those who live, work or visit areas in the closed work zone will still have access during construction.
