MDA Offers Resources to Farmers Feeling Spring Season Stress

Minnesota farmers and livestock producers in need of emotional, mental, physical, or financial help have access to the State Department of Agriculture’s free and confidential resources.

Farmer and MDA Spokesperson Meg Moynihan says farmers are respected for not complaining, but that isn’t always a good thing.“I think our farmers are brave, farm family members are brave, and really used to kind of soldiering on and saying, ‘Ya know, we’re responsible, we’re going to make things work on this farm’…but when it’s you who needs the help, sometimes we’re uncomfortable saying, ‘Hey, I need somebody to talk to, I need a hand, I’m struggling.’”

Moynihan recommends Minnesotans call the MN Farm and Rural Help Line for immediate help at 833-600-2670, any day, any time. (Farmers can also text “FARMSTRESS” to 898211)
