Memorial Services Today (Tuesday) for Longtime Waverly Area Farmer, Produce Stand Developer, “Jerry” Untiedt

Memorial Services are planned for today (Tuesday) for a longtime area resident, farmer, and the developer of the area produce stands that bear his family’s name.

Jerold “Jerry” Untiedt passed away July 6th at the age of 77 as the result of heart complications.

Jerry was born in Minneapolis and attended high school in Edina. He and his wife, Sue, raised their family on their farm in Waverly. It was here that Jerry developed the products that would eventually stock the annual roadside vegetable stands. For decades, the Untiedt’s Market produce stands have been seen throughout the region, and continue today. He was a strong advocate for local and national agriculture and agricultural policy, and a provider to several area food shelves.

Jerry was also an avid outdoorsman, and loved his dogs, pheasant hunting and trapshooting.

Services for Jerry Untiedt are scheduled for 5 PM today (Tuesday) at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Howard Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to honor Jerry’s legacy. Contributions may be made payable to Untiedt’s Vegetable Farm, and indicate your choice of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Agricultural Scholarship, Pheasants Forever, or a local food shelf to help the family direct your memorial gift.
