Minnesota Department of Health Conducting Survey for Those Who Own Chicken Flocks

The Minnesota Department of Health is requesting the help of residents who have small, backyard chicken flocks.

The MDH says since March of 2024, there have been 70 human cases of the H5 avian influenza in the U-S, including some linked to non-commercial, backyard flocks.

The Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control are asking those with small flocks to take a short survey to learn more about their birds, and how they are handled and cared for.

Officials say the input will help the department improve bird flu prevention, as well as protecting both people and poultry.

The survey is said to take only a few minutes to complete. Click the link on this story on the KRWC webpage today to participate.
