MN Department of Ag Expands “Farm to School” Program

Another round of grant funding is expanding the Minnesota Department of Ag’s Farm to School food program.

Program supervisor Kate Seybold says the program benefits both kids and local businesses…

We know that for every dollar that schools and early care spend through our grant program, there’s an additional dollar of economic activity generated in our state. So it’s great for our kids who are getting delicious meals featuring local food. It’s great for our farmers who are able to sell their products.”

Seybold says this year 311 family daycares will be able to benefit from the program, more than double from the previous year.

Locally, the Dassel-Cokato School District will also receive a 30-thousand dollar “Full Tray Grant” to help expand its Farm To School food choices offered to students.
