Minnesota farm organization leaders say they’re encouraged by talk of the U-S Senate moving closer to action on a new Farm Bill.
Dan Glessing, farmer in the Waverly area in Wright County, is the President of the Minnesota Farm Bureau. He says that many farmers are anxiously awaiting lawmakers to start their fine-tuning of the broader elements of a new Farm Bill…
“We had heard that chair Bozeman would like to mark up the Farm Bill here before the August recess. We still don’t have a firm date on when they’re going to look at doing that. So, that continues to kind of remain to be seen. But having said that, it’s still good to hear that there’s potential movement, and just would encourage the senate to go ahead and get the Farm Bill marked up.”
Once the senate agrees to final language, their version would have to merge with the house version before it would go on to the president for a final signature. There is no hard and fast deadline for when that will happen.
