Minnesota’s pheasant hunting season opens today (Saturday).
DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen says it’s yet another a great reason to get out and enjoy the outdoors…
“You get to be outside, you get to be active taking a walk, you get to enjoy time with friends or family doing that activity. Probably you might have a dog along and that is fun. It’s just a really great way to be outside enjoying the fields and the forests in Minnesota.”
Strommen has some suggestions for hunters who are new to the sport…
“Grab a friend. Grab someone who is a veteran hunter who can show you the ropes. You need to know where to hunt. Our wildlife management area finder that will help you find a spot near you. And then of course, safety is really, really important. So don’t forget your orange hat, orange vest. Make sure that folks can see you in the field.”

The Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener is taking place this weekend in Northfield.
