MN Senator Amy Klobuchar Praises EPA Announcement Allowing Summertime E15 Sales Throughout the Summer

Farm leaders across Minnesota and throughout the Upper Midwest are applauding the waiver issued by the U-S EPA that will allow the nationwide sale of E15 ethanol fuel throughout the summer months.

While Minnesota was previously included in a handful of states that were allowed to sell E15 in the summer, the new ruling will allow all states to sell the corn-based bio-fuel.

U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar says it’s great news for Minnesota farmers…

It’s really positive for us because our corn growers, it’s been really difficult with what’s going on internationally. When we’ve got on average 20 percent of our products are exported…we’re a little higher even than the national average, so when we’ve lost some of those markets, we’ve got to replace them some way, and one way is domestically. In addition to E15, we have aviation fuel coming our way, and that’s going to be, when you look at the cost of plane tickets and the need to diversify our fuel supply, we are in the perfect position now to, we’re on the leading edge of this hub that we want to do on aviation fuel, and we’ve put bi-partisan state support behind it.”

(Sen. Amy Klobuchar)

Senator Klobuchar continues to call on congress to pass her bi-partisan bill to permanently allow for the sale of year-round E15 nationwide.
