A Wright County woman was involved in an unusual traffic crash Wednesday afternoon in East-Central Minnesota that left another driver injured.
The State Patrol reports that shortly after 12 noon on Wednesday, a Nissan Rogue SUV was westbound on State Highway 48 when it struck a deer near Milepost 15. The deer then flew into the eastbound lane of traffic, striking a Honda SUV.
The driver of the Honda vehicle, 54-year-old Janet Lund of Cloquet, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the airborne deer striking her vehicle. She was taken to the Essentia Health Hospital in Sandstone for treatment.
The driver of the Nissan SUV that initially struck the deer, 67-year-old Penny Garlitz of Monticello, was not injured.
The Essentia Health Ambulance assisted State Troopers at the crash scene.
