A local couple was recently honored with a regional Excellence in Child Foster Care Award.
Daniel and Ingrid Rogalski of Montrose were presented the honor at the fall conference of the Region 7 Minnesota Social Service Association. The Rogalskis began their fostering journey in 2020. Since that time they have welcomed seven interim placements, provided respite care to support other foster families, offered emergency shelter care, and adopted a child from foster care.
Marisa Ferguson is a Wright County Child Foster Care Licensor, and nominated the Rogalskis…
“We’re able to nominate foster providers who go above and beyond, or that we recognize doing great work, so, I nominated Daniel and Ingrid and they won the award.”
Ingrid says her interest in foster care stems from a strong family upbringing…
“For me, it’s always something I’ve wanted to do is help kids. I came from an amazing family, and very supportive. I just feel that every child deserves to have that type of home and love and stability.”
Meanwhile, Daniel says his desire to be a foster care provider is a way of giving back…
“Well it’s always something I’ve wanted to do. I was in foster care myself as a little kid, and experiencing the good homes and knowing they made a difference, and wanting to make a difference myself.”
Marisa Ferguson says that Wright County Child Foster Care is always in need of additional providers…
“We need foster families for all age ranges throughout the county. We’re kind of down in our numbers right now. I’ve been doing this for 10 years, and this is probably the lowest foster homes we’ve had. We like to have a variety of foster homes in each community, each town, you know…Delano, Otsego, Monticello, Buffalo, Cokato…just because we like to keep kids when they come into care in their same school district. That’s really important to keep something familiar to them.”
Anyone interested in learning more about foster care is invited to attend the next orientation session on Monday, October 5th at 6 PM at the Wright County Government Center in Buffalo.
