A new program from the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families is hoping to lessen the burden on early childhood educators.
Bharti Wahi, the department’s Early Childhood Administrator says early educators play a crucial role in child development…
“…but often they don’t have essential benefits. We know that nearly 50% of early educators don’t have medical insurance through their employment, and we know over 50% don’t have access to dental insurance through their employment. And this has a big impact on whether folks feel like they can stay in the field or not.”
The pilot program offers early childhood educators up to $55 a month to spend on certain benefits like health and dental insurance.
