Some Minnesotans on Medical Assistance could soon face new federal work reporting requirements.
Minnesota DHS Temporary Commissioner John Connolly says beginning in 2027, certain adults may have to document work, volunteering, education, or job training activities to keep their coverage…
“Some adults in Minnesota’s Medicaid program may need to meet new work reporting and community engagement requirements to be eligible for or keep their coverage. And this change generally applies to adults aged 21 to 64 who don’t have dependent children.”
The state has launched an online tool to help people determine whether they’re affected. Connolly says that resource can help people understand whether they must meet work requirements or if they qualify for an exemption…
“The tool basically prompts folks to enter in that information so they can find out based on their personal circumstances if these new requirements would affect their medical assistance coverage or Medicaid coverage. The idea here is for the department to make the renewal process or application for enrollment in the program a bit easier.”
Officials say checking now could help prevent future coverage issues.
