One person was killed, and another was seriously injured Sunday in a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the City of Rockford.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of the incident at County Road 33 and Ash Street in Rockford at 1:53 PM Sunday. Authorities say two adult women were struck by a vehicle while they were walking on the sidewalk.
Officials say when deputies arrived on the scene, they found that one of the women was pinned under the vehicle. The woman was able to be freed from under the vehicle by deputies and Rockford firefighters. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second woman reportedly suffered significant injuries to her lower extremities according to the sheriff’s office. That person was transported to a Twin Cities hospital.
Authorities say the vehicle was driven by a juvenile female. The driver’s mother was a reportedly a passenger in the vehicle. Both are reported to be residents of Cologne. Neither the driver or passenger were injured.
The names of the persons involved including the two women who were struck by the vehicle have yet to be released.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
