One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 212 and Dairy Ave. near Glencoe on Wednesday afternoon.
An unidentified 85-year-old female from Hutchinson was a passenger in a 2021 Chevy pickup truck being driven by 63-year-old Cynthia Schweiss of Hutchinson. The truck was northbound on Dairy Ave. in Helen Township, near Glencoe, when it collided with an eastbound 2020 Freightliner semi on Highway 212.
The semi driver, 23-year-old Mahmut Lacin of Centerville, Ohio and the driver of the pickup were both sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the pickup truck was killed in the accident. Her name will be released later.
The driver of the semi was wearing his seatbelt, although it is not known if those in the pickup were wearing theirs. Alcohol was not involved in the 2:07 PM crash.
The State Patrol was assisted by the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Allina EMS, Glencoe Fire, Plato Fire, and MnDOT.
