Remember to Call 811 Before Yard Projects Involving Digging

With better weather comes outdoor projects in the yard, and utility officials urge Minnesotans to take precautions before digging on their property.

April is safe digging month, and CenterPoint Energy spokesperson Joshua Solis says it’s crucial to plan ahead…

Contact 811 at least two business days before starting work on a project. Make the request earlier in the week to allow enough time for marking. You may plan a project that’s close to a utility line, so adjust your plans if needed and verify that anyone doing work has contacted 811 before beginning work.”

Solis says if you happen to smell natural gas, leave the area immediately on foot and call 911.
