The Trump administration has ramped up arrests of undocumented migrants in major cities around the U-S, including here in Minnesota. 6th District Congressman Tom Emmer says the actions really shouldn’t come as a big surprise…
“President Trump is delivering on his promise to make America safe again. If you’re here in this country, illegal, illegally, you should not be here.”
The Delano Republican also takes issue with the ongoing push to make Minnesota a sanctuary state…
“…Tim Walz, we’re a sanctuary state. Who are you representing? Are you representing the people that are citizens of our state? Are you protecting their persons and their property? No.”
DFL lawmakers have called for making Minnesota a sanctuary state for immigrants lacking legal status. The North Star Act proposes banning state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
