A local man has announced his campaign for the Minnesota Senate in District 29.
Longtime Rockford resident and attorney, Dan Fiskum announced his campaign as a DFLer for Minnesota Senate District 29.
A press release indicated that Fiskum has been a Rockford resident for over 19 years, and has over 30 years of experience as an attorney and litigator.
His campaign has adopted the theme of; “Less Chaos. More Community.”
Fiskum said in the release that he believes that trust needs to be rebuilt in Minnesota. He said; “….that starts with honest government, fiscal responsibility, and leaders who are willing to listen to the people they represent.”
Fiskum describes himself as both a fiscal conservative and environmental conservative. He states that he believes Minnesota must protect taxpayers from wasteful spending while also safeguarding the state’s natural resources for future generations.
Fiskum will face Louis McNutt of Buffalo in the August 11th DFL primary. The winner of the primary will move onto the November ballot to challenge GOP incumbent Michael Holmstrom of Buffalo, who won a special election last November to fill the Senate District 29 seat that was left vacant after the passing of longtime State Senator Bruce Anderson of Buffalo.
