Sheriff’s Office Investigating Train vs. Pedestrian Fatality in Albion Township

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a train versus pedestrian fatality over the weekend just west of Maple Lake.

Authorities report that around 4:30 PM Saturday, deputies were dispatched to an area near Highway 55 and County Road 37 Northwest in Albion Township for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a Canadian Pacific train.

Deputies discovered that an adult female had been walking on the tracks when she was struck by the eastbound train. Officials say the case is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Canadian Pacific Rail investigators. Due to the nature of the incident, authorities have not released the name of the female victim.
