Spring Burning Restrictions Now in Effect

The Minnesota DNR is reminding residents that spring burning restrictions are now in effect in Wright County, and a large number of counties throughout the state.

Dry conditions and strong winds combined with unusually warm temperatures have increased the risk of wildfire.

The DNR says it will not issue permits for open burning of brush or yard waste in Wright County and other affected counties until restrictions are lifted.

Officials say people cause more than 90 percent of the wildfires seen in Minnesota. Residents are reminded that if a fire rekindles or escapes, the person who set it is liable for any damage caused, as well as for the costs of wildfire suppression.
