The Minnesota State Patrol investigated multiple traffic crashes in our area on Thursday.
Thursday morning, a passenger car and a pickup truck collided in Cokato Township. Authorities say around 11 AM, a Kia passenger car and a Ford pickup were both westbound on Highway 12 when the crash occurred.
The driver of the Kia sedan, 56-year-old Dawn Wheeler of Dassel, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Hutchinson Hospital. The driver of the Ford pickup, a 16-year-old male who was not identified, was not injured. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office and the Cokato Fire and Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Two crashes happened within minutes of each other in the Monticello area Thursday afternoon. The State Patrol was called to a three-vehicle crash around 3:30 PM Thursday on westbound I-94 near Milepost 194 in the City of Monticello.
Officials say a Ford Fusion, a Volkswagen Atlas and a Dodge Dart were all westbound on the freeway when they collided. The driver of the Dodge vehicle, 55-year-old David Nyberg of Monticello, the driver of the Ford Fusion, 72-year-old Kenneth Bloch of Big Lake, and the driver of the Volkswagen vehicle, 75-year-old Robert Gut of Monticello, all escaped injury. A passenger in the Ford Fusion, 71-year-old Ann Bloch of Big Lake, sustained non-life threatening injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Moments later, two vehicles collided on Highway 25 at 85th Street Northeast in Monticello Township. Authorities say a Subaru Outback was southbound on Highway 25, while a Chevy Suburban was northbound on Highway 25 when they collided. The driver of the Suburban, 77-year-old David Ekblad of Buffalo had non-life threatening injuries that did not require hospital treatment. The driver of the Subaru, 69-year-old Thomas Kleven of Medina, North Dakota, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Monticello Hospital. A passenger in the Subaru, 68-year-old Constance Kleven, also of Medina, North Dakota, had life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
