A new traffic control feature is scheduled to be in place soon at an intersection near Monticello that has seen a big jump in traffic since the start of construction on Highway 25.
The Wright County Highway Department says a temporary traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of CSAH 37 and County Road 117, or Edmonson Avenue NE.
The two roadways are a major part of the traffic detour being used while work continues on Highway 25. During the heaviest traffic times of the day, long waits for north-south traffic have been experienced. The intersection was also the site of a serious traffic crash in early July.
Officials say the temporary signal should help traffic move more safely and smoothly through the busy intersection.
