Two Teens Injured in Big Lake When Pickup Strikes Scooter

Two teens from our area were injured Wednesday afternoon when a pickup truck collided with a scooter in the City of Big Lake.

The State Patrol reports that around 1:15 PM Wednesday, a Ford pickup was westbound on Pleasant Avenue in Big Lake, while the electric scooter was southbound on the sidewalk along Highway 25, and the vehicles collided.

The two teen males on the scooter, ages 15 and 14, both from Big Lake, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to CentraCare Hospital in Monticello for treatment. Authorities say neither of the boys were wearing helmets.

The driver of the pickup, 80-year-old William Stolz, and a passenger, 50-year-old John Stolz, both of Big Lake, were not injured.

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the Big Lake Police and Fire Departments, and CentraCare EMS assisted at the scene.
