The United States Postal Service has announced plans to reopen retail operations in the community of Becker.

As you may recall, postal services for Becker have been routed through the Monticello Post Office since October 2025, when the lease for the former Becker Post Office at 13974 First Street expired.  A May 5th USPS final decision states that a new location will open at a site within a two-mile radius of the former location.

While a final location has not yet been decided, a potential location was identified near the intersection of Highway 10 and Edgewood Street SE.  Other potential locations could also be considered.

Congressmen Tom Emmer released a statement regarding the news: “Finally, after a year of advocacy with Mayor Mark Kolbinger and the City of Becker, the USPS has made the right call to bring back postal service to Becker.  Thank you to Mayor Kolbinger for his leadership, partnership, and constant communication with us as we worked to resolve this.  It’s a great day for Becker!”

The USPS said that postal service will continue to go through Monticello until a new post office facility is opened, which likely won’t be until the summer of 2027.
